Pigmentation Laser FAQ
Simple spots (seborrhoeic keratosis, senile lentigo, etc.) often show marked improvement in 1–3 sessions. Melasma requires ongoing management rather than complete removal, as activated melanocytes are the underlying cause. Results vary significantly by pigmentation type; we provide individual prognosis guidance at consultation.
Melasma recurs more readily than simple pigmentation and typically requires a course of 6–10+ sessions with long-term management. Combining UV protection and brightening care helps maintain results. Excessive laser energy can paradoxically worsen melasma, making a low-energy, gradual approach essential.
If a crust forms over treated pigment areas, do not pick it — allow it to fall away naturally. Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen diligently and use hats and active UV protection for at least 2–4 weeks post-treatment. Minimising friction during cleansing and maintaining adequate hydration supports recovery.
